Although federal policy governs many of the transactions involved in home foreclosures, state policy plays an important role as well. These include requiring mediation in foreclosures, creating a moratorium on foreclosures, enacting protections against predatory mortgage lending, and providing counseling and financial assistance.See more information on these strategies.
