The countries primary welfare program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is expiring in October of this year. Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity, has asked current and former elected officials to provide their thoughts on TANF’s successes and failures in reducing poverty and providing opportunity for Americans. Exclusive commentary: current and former elected officials discuss TANF, currently features Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, former Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith, Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson, and former Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum.
